Bicycle Tours and Services

We offer both guided and self-guided bicycle tours for our guests.  We have many trail and route options for you to choose from and will gladly help you choose which is best for you.  Multiple day guided tours would include accommodations at the Canal Side Guest House when possible and practical.  Self-guided tours would include a directions sheet, map, transportation of your luggage and bicycles at challenging locations around the Allentown and Jim Thorpe  area.

The Delaware and Lehigh National Heritage Corridor ( D and L):  This trail spans from Glenn Summit to Bristol, PA.  While it is not completed, we know how to get around the challenging spots and can help you navigate around the roads.  We also have some side trails that we would recommend if you would choose to take this trail.   This is a multiple day ride.  Here is  their website.  http://delawareandlehigh.org/map/

The Switchback Gravity Railroad:  This loop ride is 18 miles and is a bit more challenging than your average rail trail.  This is because it covers the elevation change needed for hauling coal from up in Summit Hill down to the Lehigh and back up again.  We love this ride because of the beautiful scenery.  It can be included as part of a bicycle tour for the northern end of the D and L.

Perkiomen Trail:  This 19.5 mile trail is below the Lehigh Valley.  We would gladly transport your gear and bikes to this trail from our main trail to extend your personalized tour.   https://www.traillink.com/trail/perkiomen-trail/

Schuylkill River Trail:  If choosing to explore the Philadelphia region, we often use this trail as a gateway to visiting some of our favorite museums - Art, Ben Franklin, Natural History. https://www.traillink.com/trail/schuylkill-river-trail---valley-forge-to-philadelphia/  This trail goes through Valley Forge National Park where you can hop off and explore the park on your own.  Of course if you come down the D and L's southern section, you will have the chance to learn about these battles at Washington's Crossing Historic Park.  http://www.washingtoncrossingpark.org/park/visitors-center/

If there are any other routes that you'd like help exploring, please don't hesitate to ask.  We have years of experience bicycle touring, and supporting large bicycle tours.  It would be our pleasure to guide or support your fabulous ride here in Pennsylvania.
